Cottage. Circa 1820 and later. Built by Hugh Rowe, a Lostwithiel builder, for the
Reverend Jeremiah Trist. Painted render over slatestone rubble and cob with conical
wheatreed thatched roof and lateral stack to west. Scantle slate to north wing.
Circular room plan plus later one room wing. 2 storeys. Arched doorway to north with
original Gothick tympanum. C20 door. Half dome shaped thatched hood. Wing to north
and adjoining to right of door has small C20 window to east, i.e. road side.
Monopitch room to west. Ground and first floor original arched window openings to
east of round house with ornamental stone studded borders. Windows and C20 small
paned casements. More windows to south. Interior retains open hearth with bread

be to deter the activities of the Devil but more likely reason is economy.
