House. Mid C19 with major extension and remodelling c.1900. Brick, mostly rendered, and ashlar front extension. Welsh slate roof with brick and rendered brick ridge stacks. Courtyard plan with front extension. 2 storeys with single-storey extension. This is in ashlar and is a 6-window range of wooden mullion and transom windows to left and sashes arranged as a tripartite window to right. Central 2-leaved door with large fanlight set in arch within doorcase with Tuscan columns supporting a broken pediment. Plinth, cill band, battlemented parapet to flat roof. Further window to left return. Main range behind has gabled ends with slightly recessed centre and is a 4-window range of bay windows, those to ends canted, and to centre round. 2-storey bay to left has C20 windows below with cross-mullioned or transomed windows above with pediments. Similar bay to right above the extension. Shaped bargeboards and pendants. Sides have various mullion and transom windows and sash windows with glazing bars. Similar windows to interior of central yard. Interior: the principal feature is the very fine quality entrance and staircase hall in the c1900 extension, with panelling, applied canvas frieze above, painted or stencilled with swags and Renaissance details, and moulded ceiling. Elaborate fireplace with beaten copper hood and back panel with art nouveau repousse decoration. The windows and doors all have very fine and imaginative art nouveau stained glass, with rose trees, birds and other flowers and plants and employing clear glass as part of the design. Hall leads through triple-arcade to staircase with elaborately carved wooden balustrade: an art nouveau version of a Carolean stair. Interior includes further ceiling decoration in wood or plaster, including that in the chapel, and an elaborately carved mid C19 marble fireplace in the drawing room. Further stained glas in the heads of the 2 bay windows over the entrance hall, and in windows on left side.
