8/150 Trist House and west terrace walls - service wing, stable block and courtyard wall GV II
Rectory, now house and west terrace walls, service wing, stable block and courtyard wall. 1834. Built for Samuel, son of Jeremiah Trist. Coursed slatestone, low pitched hipped Delabole slate roof with wide eaves and hidden valley. 2 axial stuccoed brick chimneys and 2 over side walls. Double depth plan with 3 main receiption rooms arranged in L-shape, passages from south and east fronts with stairs in angle leaving narrow room in south-east corner. 2 storeys. 3 window nearly symmetrical south front. Doorway with Tuscan stuccoed doorcase with paired pilasters slightly off centre to right and glazed double doors with over light. 12-paned hornless sashes in slightly arched openings. 3 window west and north fronts with third bay of each broken forward slightly. Ground floor right window of north front glazed but blocked and exists to complete symmetry. Steps lead to left ground floor bay window. Service wing with wide eaves to left. Interior: original stone floor to vestibule, open well and service stairs, doors with panelled reveals. Window shutters, moulded plaster ceiling cornices, marble fireplace surrounds and some original hob grates. Granite coped terrace walls to west front garden with urns. Stable block with original stands and 4 stone barrel vaults to basement.
