LEZANT - SX 37 NW 5/33 Trenute

Farmhouse. Early to mid-C17 with later additions and alterations. Roughcast slate- stone; slate roof, hipped to right. Original house extended to right 1864 (date on joist). 2 storeys. Three 2-light leaded casements directly below eaves and one to each side of 6-panel door under hip-roofed porch to left of centre. Leaded French window to right. External end stack to left and ridge stack (formerly an end stack) to right, both with slate drips. C19 two-storey catslide outshut to rear. Interior: Chamfered and plain ceiling beams in room to left of ridge stack (formerly 2). Granite fireplaces with granite lintels replacing wooden ones late C20. Date "1864" carved on joist in ground-floor room to right of ridge stack. Original part has collar truss roof in 3 bays plus hipped bay to left of ridge stack with slots for original trenched purlins. Raising of eaves, right extension and outshut are all contemporary. The windows are said to have been brought from Antony House near Torpoint in mid-C20. C20 lean-to to rear on right of outshut is not of special architectural interest.
