Piers and gates. 1735. By John Strachan. Ironwork by Nathaniel Arthur. Limestone ashlar, coursed squared Lias rubble and wrought-iron. Tall square piers have coupled Doric pilasters with frosted blocks, an entablature and good urn on top; a fine wrought-iron screen in 3 sections, the centre opening, with an overthrow arch containing a cartouche; quadrant rubble walls either side. Arthur made the gates for the contemporary Redland Chapel (qv).
