Includes: Central Lodge BIRKENHEAD PARK. Lodge to Birkenhead Park. c1840-50. Probably by Lewis Hornblower and John Robertson. Ashlar faced with low pitched concrete tiled roof. 2 storeys, 3-window range of double pile, 2-room plan. Single-storey entrance block to the left, with shouldered architrave to doorway. Main block has rusticated ashlar ground floor with sash windows with round-headed upper panes. Upper storey divided by pilasters, with similar sash windows. Balustraded parapet and fluted finials at angles, some acting as stacks. Forms part of the original development of Birkenhead Park, laid out by Joseph Paxton between 1844 and 1847.
