Details

SS 61 NW BURRINGTON CLEAVE LANE 5/36 Cleavedown - - II Cottage. Late C17 or early C18. Rendered stone rubble and cob. Thatch roof, hipped at right end, wings half-hipped. Stone rubble stack at left end of main range with tapered cap and brick shaft. Rendered stack to rear of right-hand room. Plan: Principal room to each side of central staircase, kitchen to left, parlour to right. Small 2-storey wing projects forward at left end, small single storey thatched outbuilding to front right end. 2 storeys. 2-window range. Principally C19 fenestration. 2-light casement 6 panes per light and 3-light casement 3 panes per light over similar casement to left and 2-light casement 6 panes per light to right of C19 plank door. Door to inner face of left-hand wing which has C20 2-light casement over a 3-light casement 2 panes per light. Leanto to left side. Single storey outbuilding on right side has cased-in ovolo moulded doorframe to inner face. Victorian post-box set into outer wall. Interior.: Principally altered in C20 but some C19 joinery survives and probably earlier fabric concealed.
