Set of 4 ornamental lamps at entrance to public promenade. Later C19 (replacing former gate piers and railings). Sandstone and cast-iron. Two pairs, one pair at each corner of the north end of the promenade, each pair with a low quadrant wall of ashlar linking the pedestals. Each has a broad square stone pedestal with moulded plinth and panelled sides, and a cast-iron standard consisting of a vase pedestal with a wide gadrooned base and raised foliated enrichment to the vessel and its cap, and a shaft with acanthus leaf decoration to the base and cap. (Lanterns temporarily removed at time of survey.) Prominent feature at centre of site overlooked by Harris Institute to north, Bushell Place to east, and Avenham Colonnade and Ribblesdale Place to west. Renovation in progress at time of survey.
