GV II

Terrace of public house, shop and house. Early C19 with late C19 addition. Brick with stucco dressings; tile roof with brick stacks. 2 storeys; 7-window range comprising 3 symmetrical compositions of windows flanking recess 1st floor panel, single-window addition to left end. No 71 has stucco facade. Nos 71 and 72 have late C19 shop fronts, that to No 71 with panelled pilasters, fascia with end bracketed gables, windows with etched glass flanking half glazed door with lantern; No 72 has panelled pilasters, panelled frieze and acanthus brackets to cornice, 6-pane windows flanking paired glazed doors; No 73 has entrance with doorcase with pilasters, frieze and cornice. Windows have rusticated wedge lintels, window to left end of ground floor has 12-pane sash, those to No 73 have 16-pane sashes; 1st floor has windows with 4/8-pane sashes, but No 71 has similar top-hung sashes, with 9-pane sash to left end. 2 cross-axial stacks and end stack. Rear has late C19 wing to No 71, with attached stable range; Nos 72 and 73 have 4 gables and small casement windows. No 71 included for group value. A little altered example.
