2. Circa early C18 red brick house. Plain tile roof with gabled ends and moulded stone eaves cornice. Three-storeys and attics. Three bays-sashes with glazing bars in exposed casing. Painted brick flat arches with keystones with cornices. Central doorway with moulded architrave, panelled reveals, panelled door, rectangular fanlight and pediment on large shaped brackets. Three late C19 gabled dormers. Interior: said to contain contemporary staircase. At the rear there is a rainwater head dated 1695. Built by one of the Lochrances, Earls of Dundonald (probably the 9th earl - 1749/1831- who was interested in new industrial processes). The house was used as a cholera hospital in 1833.
