Details
MEARS ASHBY LADYS LANE (West side) SP8366 No.29 16/245 II GV
House. Probably C16 with C20 extensions. Regular coursed lias, now painted, with C20 concrete tile roof. Originally 2-unit plan, now L-shape. Single storey with attic. Entrance front of 2-window range of C20 casements, those to right have original wood lintels. C20 door to centre. Left bay is C20 reconstruction of barn. Gable to right has 2 carved heads, one of a bishop under moulded dripstone. Elevation to left has window and blocked door with wood lintels. Brick stacks at ridge. Rear gable has inscribed tablet: "W.P. bought this house and barn by the self 1778 for 999 years". Interior has ceiling beams and remains of open fireplace with bressumer in room to rear. Some original roof structure remains.
