LEEKFRITH C.P. MEERBROOK SJ 96 SE 5/116 School and - School House

- II

Combined school and school house. Early C19 with mid-C19 addition. Ashlar front and red brick; rusticated quoins and voussoirs; stone slate and banded tile roofs with verge parapet to stone part; corniced stone end and centre ridge stacks. School and school-house in one, 2 storeys. First floor cill band, 4 windows glazing bar casements, small-pane to right-hand (school master's house); the school (2 left- hand windows) is actually one storey, but a 2-storeyed effect is given by the cill band which divides the otherwise full-height (larger-pane) windows. The 2 elements are separated by a straight joint and unified by the roof and central gabled bellcote on eaves.
