Tansor House
GV II
House. Probably C17 with datestone R/HS/1721. Altered early and mid C19. Squared
coursed limestone with ashlar dressings and Collyweston slate roof. Originally
probably 2-unit plan, now L-shape. 2 storeys with attic. Main front is a
3-window range. Flanking 2-storey canted bay windows with unhorned sashes and
glazing bars. Central sash window at first floor, under a stone lintel. Central
doorway, now blocked, has moulded stone surround with cornice. Chamfered plinth,
raised band between storeys and moulded cornice. Pair of hipped roof dormers.
Ashlar gable parapets and kneelers and truncated ashlar stacks at ends. Right
gable has oval datestone in apex. Rear wing, to right, is probably of C17 origin
and has 2 leaded casements at first floor, under wood lintels and C19 tripartite
sash window, also under wood lintel, to ground floor. C20 door and porch to
left. Pair of roof dormers with leaded casements have some early glass.
Interior: kitchen in rear wing has large open fireplace with bressumer. Mid C19
staircase said to retain C18 turned balusters.
