CHIPPING WARDEN MILL LANE SP44NE (West side) 4/105 Row of 4 headstones approx. 1 to 3m. S of S wall of chancel of Church of St. Peter and St. Paul

Row of 4 headstones, C17 and early C18. Ironstone. Left headstone has round plaque surmounted by scrolls and head. Weathered inscription with date 1687. No name visible. Headstone second from left has round plaque surmounted by scrolls and winged head. Fragmentary inscription to "Owen .... Igas", died 1666. Headstone second from right has plaque framed by draperies and surmounted by head. Commemorates Thomas Douglas died 1719. Headstone to right, inscription framed by draperies and surmounted by winged head. Commemorates Elizabeth Douglas died 1726. Forms important group to right of pathway approaching church from south-east.
