GV I
Gatehouse and walls. C12. Flint with stone dressings. Central arch with a slightly larger arch opening to north. The wall continues at heights varying between 10 & 15 feet for 8 yards to the north-east of this arch. A further stretch of wall, built against both sides at later dates, continues from the eastern side of the arch for-about 5 yards, dropping from a height of about 20 feet to the ground. Stretches also leading west and south from west side of arch, the former circa 30 yards long, the lather 5 yards, both circa 15 feet high from floor of former moat.
