SP 75 SE ROADE ROADE CUTTING
5/143 Aqueduct
II
Aqueduct. c.1837, with later repairs. Sandstone piers and cast-iron channel for
small stream carried over Roade Cutting. Roade Cutting is 65 feet deep and 1.5
miles long, and is one of the most ambitious engineering works on Robert
Stephenson's pioneering London-Birmingham line, opened 1838.
