8/118 Gate, gate piers and - adjoining walls to Ilam Park.

G.V. II

Gate, gatepiers and adjoining walls. c1830. Probably built by James Trubshawe. Ashlar walls and cast iron gate. Right hand side of drive: small pedestrian gate within 4-centred arch flanked by 2 octagonal turrets; that to left is one of the former main gate piers, that to the right taller and crenellated, the two linked over the gate by a crenellated parapet and parapet string; smaller diamond section crenellated turret and adjoining c30 yard stretch of coped wall to far right. Left hand side of drive had a similar arrangement but is now partly demolished leaving the stump of an octagonal turret on the right linked to a small diamond section turret by a short wall, both of which are crenellated; adjoining to the left is a c30 yard stretch of coped wall. The remains of the main gateway stand in good visual relationship with the Lodge (q.v.) immediately behind.
