ST11NW WELLINGTON WITHOUT CP 8/183 Mill and chimney adjoining Prowse's Villa
II Shown on OS map as Prowse's Mill. Textile mill and chimney, now disused. Circa 1800, chimney mid-late C19. Red sandstone random rubble, plinth dressed stone voussoirs, slate roof, coped verges. Plan: mill facing south, cottage abutting south-east corner (not included in this list) and remains of engine house and chimney to east. Mill: 3 storeys, 2 bays, segmental headed 8x6-pane sash windows, internally boarded up with many panes of glass broken; left return 4 segmental headed sash windows on upper storey with remains of shaft drive wheel, lower storey masked by remains of outbuilding; right return square headed loft opening flanked by semi-circular headed windows, inserted doorway first floor, ground floor entrance masked by brick outbuildings continued north to chimney. Interior: shallow brick vaults on cast iron columns. Remains of red brick engine house only partially seen; red brick chimney square in plan: splayed out at base, dog tooth moulded plinth, moulded cornice.
