GV II

House, now Church Army Hostel. C18, on older foundations with later C18 and late C19 extensions to front and right. Red brick with gauged-brick dressings and plain tiled roofs obscured by stone-coped parapets. Original house to left of 3 bays with extension projecting across the ground floor and 5 bay extension to right. Three storeys with plat bands over ground and first floors, brick modillion cornice above. Stacks to rear. Three 12-Pane glazing-bar sash windows under gauged-brick heads to first and second floors of original range. Ground floor projects under brick-dentilled cornice with square bay breaks to ends; each with two sashes, the upper lights with glazing bars, under gauged-brick and key- stone heads with sunken panels decorating. Cornice drops down over recessed central entrance with half-glazed door under over light flanked by thin Doric piers. Five-bay range to right with similar fenestration, the upper lights only with glazing-bars. Door to left in porch recess. Included for group value.
