Cottage of c1850, removed c1860. Coursed rubble stone with plinth, stone
dressings, timber framing with red brick nogging, and Collyweston slate
roof with left ridge and rear ashlar stacks. Gable to left. 1½ storeys
of mullion and transom windows with hood moulds. In gable a stone gabled
porch with Tudor arch and door within. 3-light window over. To right
a 4-light with a section of jettyed timber framing over. On left end
a 3-light, a further porch and small gable with 2-light. On right end
a 3-light, door, and 2-light with canted 5-light wooden oriel in timber-framed
gable above. This cottage, presumably with similar description; was originally
built for the Earl of Harborough in Cottage Plantation, Stapleford Park,
nearby. Some time after 1859 the stone and bricks were removed and the
present cottage built here. Stapleford Park guide, 1958, p.26.
