GV II

Barn now a studio, and attached stable. Late C16 barn with C17 N porch, and C18 stable. Timber frames on red brick sills, dark weatherboarded with steep old red tile roofs. A former 5-bays barn facing N with central gabled N porch and winnowing door to rear reached by external steps. The 2 E bays have been demolished and a chimney and fireplace inserted on the N side of the westernmost bay. Heavy jowled posts, curved braces to wallplates and tie-beams, wide-spaced studs, squint-butted scarf joint in S wallplate, clasped-purlin roof on collar-and - queen-strut trusses. Added N porch has higher eaves and straight braces. 4-bays lower stable attached to SW corner of barn facing E, stable doors and 2 windows. Unjowled posts and clasped-purlin roof with heavy inclined queen- posts. Included for group value.
