3/146 Garden wall, gates and gate pier N and E sides of - Knebworth House
GV II
Garden walling and gates in L plan on N and E sides of Knebworth House. Circa 1845 by H E Kendall. Robust Tudor style, in keeping with house. Stucco on red brick. Balustraded with quatrefoil-frieze. Traceried piers at intervals. These form heavy stepped buttresses on the park side of the wall. NE anqle has polygonal bastion. Double and single gates on N side have massive composite piers, square at base, octagonal at top. Cast iron gates with stiff leaf foliage. Wall to E of these in poor repair. Important group value with house.
