Details
DENTON MAIN STREET SE 14 NW (south side) 9/31 The Fountain (formerly listed as The 24.1.74 obelisk or fountain) GV II
Well head, now disused. Probably late C18. Gritstone. Approximately 1.5 metres high, composed of a circular base surmounted by a monolithic apple- shaped stone basin, approximately 1 metre diameter, in 2 parts with a single piece ball and cushion finial on top. The top of the monolithic stone is slightly raised as a seating for the finial. An outlet hole, now blocked, is low down on the south-east side, and a paving stone below it has a cast- iron drain cover.
