Howkeld Mill

House. Early C19. Coursed dressed limestone; brick outbuilding: pantile roof. Central stairhall plan, one room deep, with service wing and lean-to outbuilding at rear. Two storey, symmetrical three window front. Central four-panel door under rectangular divided fanlight. Sixteen-pane sashes with stone sills throughout. All openings have heavy milled lintels. Coped gables and shoulder kneelers; end stacks.
Interior: closed string staircase with a turned newel, stick balusters and a moulded handrail. In ground floor room to right are cupboard recesses in squared, reeded architraves with lozenge paterae. In both ground floor rooms panelled shutters survive.
