9/42 Gazebo adjacent to frontage of Edington House - GV II
Gazebo. Circa 1780, some C19 alteration. Coursed and squared rubble, freestone dressings, some rough plastering to south face, rusticated alternating ashlar quoins, cornice to main front which is ramped up to each side, urn finial to right, to left damaged with finial missing at time of survey (October 1985), pyramidal slate roof, pineapple finial at apex. Square on plan; Classical with later Gothick embellishments. Two storeys, ground floor plain, doorway with plank door; first floor reached by 2 flights of stone steps, ornamental wrought-iron handrail and ballustrading, partially re-set. Three-quarter glazed Gothick door to east with side-lights, some coloured glass; to each side a circular window if a freestone surround, radiating glazing, coloured glass. Gothick casements to north and south faces; plain casement to west. Interior with fireplace.
