ROXBY PARK HILL NZ 71 NE 2/250 Park House Farmhouse and attached outbuilding
II Farmhouse, C17 and C18, with outbuilding. Herringbone-tooled coursed sandstone on plinth. Pantiled roof with stone ridge, copings, kneelers and stacks; brick stack on downhouse. Main house and downhouse 2 separate builds; and both have been raised. Hearth-passage plan with main house in centre and outbuilding balancing downhouse to form near-symmetrical composition.
Main house 2 storeys, 2 bays; downhouse 2 storeys, 2 bays, lower. Outbuilding 1 tall storey, 2 bays. Boarded through-passage door. Main house has end chimneys and downhouse 1 rebuilt end chimney. Stable door and hit-and-miss window to outbuilding. Rear elevation shows boarded passage door and scattered small windows. Interior: plinth continues along through passage. Chamfered doorway from passage to house-place. Big firebeams in downhouse and kitchen, and joists with quarter-round moulding. Kitchen firebeam is cornice-moulded, the fire surround stone with big stepped brackets and there is a panelled spice cupboard. 2-panel doors in main house; west doors have old wood latches. Parlour has old fire surround and rear wall of panelled doors to staircase and cupboards. Separate stair from downhouse to two rooms above kitchen. Upper rooms show stout, old chamfered purlins.
