GV II

House. Late medieval open hall house with 2 crosswings, extended to rear and altered C17 and c1700, altered in late C18 or early C19. Timber frame with close-studding exposed on 1st floor at front, roughcast elsewhere. Ground floor front and below jetties rebuilt in plastered brickwork. Steep old red tile roofs. 2 very large external red brick chimneys to S side of S wing (for parlour and kitchen to rear, and a large central chimney where hall joins N crosswing. E front has one and a half storeys centre with 3-light flat topped dormer on the eaves, 3 light leaded casement to ground floor and plank door to right. 2 2- storeys gabled crosswings with tension braces to former jetties now underbuilt. 3-light leaded flush casement windows to each floor of each wing. Tall chimneys with square shafts, those to central stack set diagonally. Early C17 3-light diamond mullioned window to staircase in extended S wing. Framing of extended N wing has straight tension braces with clasped purlin roof c1700. Lean-to rear extension and jetties underbuilt c1800. (RCHM Typescript).
