Details

GILLAMOOR LOWNA ROAD SE 69 SE (north side) 6/67 Outbuildings approximately 8 metres east of Lowna Farmhouse GV II 2 attached drying sheds, now used for storage, byres and loose boxes. 2 builds: first shed of 1803, raised and adapted from C18 building: second shed c1840. For Thomas Baxter. Squared limestone with tooled quoins; first shed raised in squared limestone; red brick piers to ground and second floors of second shed. Pantile roofs with brick stack. 3-storey, 3-window front to first shed, to right: 3-storey, 5-bay front to second shed to left. First shed: plank doors to left and centre of ground floor with small-pane window to right. First floor has plank lifting door to right of centre with square pitching window to right and 3-light large-pane fixed window to left. 4 louvred openings to second floor drying loft. Ground and first floor openings have scutched lintels. End right stack. Second shed: 3 cart-sheds to ground floor, 2 now closed by board doors with altered lintels: board door to left with 2-light, 12-pane horizontal sliding sash to end left, both with diagonally-tooled lintels. First floor has board lifting door flanked by 2-light shuttered windows, with similar lintels. 5 louvred openings with tooled sills to second floor drying loft.
