14.3.69 - II

Farmhouse, now house. C16, with mid-C19 and mid-C20 alterations. Timber- framed, painted brick infill, replacement walling and refacing, plain tiled roofs, group of 4 diagonal brick chimney shafts to main ridge, also small external brick stacks to left side and front elevations. Hall and cross- wing type plan on north-east/south-west axis with multi-gabled front elevation; main range of 3 framed bays with additional bay added to front of lower end bay, cross-wing at south-west gable end of 2 framed bays; former through-passage situated above north-east end bay. Two storeys, attic and cellar. Framing: 4 square panels from sill to wall-plate, small straight braces in upper corners, double collar and tie-beam trusses with queen struts in gable ends except for north-east gable end truss with has a single collar with queen struts beneath and a king post and raking struts above; there is planted timber on the gable end of the left front additional bay. Front elevation: scattered fenestration; central 2 bays are gabled and have a ground floor C20 casement, a canted C19 bay window and C19 2-light casement and a 2-light casement to the stair landing; in the left bay the blocked entrance to the former through-passage is visible; on the first floor is a C19 casement. The left gable end of the additional bay has two C20 ground floor casements and one first floor C20 casement; the cross-wing gable end to right has two C20 ground floor casements and one first floor casement and a C20 part-glazed central entrance door with a flat canopy in wrought iron brackets. Interior: moulded plaster ceiling to rear first floor of cross- wing; dog-leg staircase with moulded handrail and ball finials on newels; main beams are stop-chamfered.
