- II
Farmhouse. Early to mid-C17 with mid-C19 alterations and additions. Brick with some sandstone rubble, plain tiled roofs. Hall and cross- wing plan; single-bay hall aligned east/west with large external chimney at west gable end enclosed by single-storey and attic addition; full-height porch wing at junction on south side to form lobby-entrance; cross-wing of two bays at east gable end has large internal chimney at east side with three star-shaped stacks and a joint cap. Two storeys and attic; three-course band with central cogged course between main storeys and also at eaves level of cross-wing. South front elevation: hall part has two ground floor 2-light casements, a first floor 2-light casement and a blind window; 3-light ground floor casement in west end addition; two-storey porch wing has a first floor 3-light casement with a cambered head, a blind window in each side elevation and, beneath, a round archway with imposts, hexagonal light in each side elevation and, within, a C17 studded door; cross-wing gable end has a ground floor 2-light casement, first floor 3-light casement with a cambered head and a blind attic light. Interior noted as having moulded ceiling beams and large back-to-back fireplaces. Also said to have a dog-spit in an alcove adjacent to the kitchen fireplace. The farmstead is recorded as having originally belonged to the Blount family.
