SAXTON WITH SCARTHINGWELL MAIN STREET SE 43 NE (west side) 3/29 Lord Dacre's Tomb approximately 3 metres to north of Church of All Saints GV II Chest tomb. c1461. To Ralph, Lord Dacre of Gillesland. Craven limestone. Oblong on plan approximately 1.75 x 1 metre and 1 metre high. Plain tomb with weathered coats of arms to sides and ends. Slab to reputed to have born inscription. Lord Dacre was killed at the Battle of Towton in 1461. Yorkshire Archaeological Journal, Vol X p 303. Pevsner N, Yorkshire, The West Riding, 1979, p431.
