GV II

Gatehouse, now outbuilding. Probably C13, remodelled C14, altered C19, restored 1972. Coursed rubble with dressed quoins and tile roof. West front of two storeys, with a 2-light casement over a blocked doorway. This has a semi-circular head and is chamfered. The blocking contains a fixed window. East front has a two-centred arch to the doorway, perhaps C14, set within a much larger arch. The left-hand jamb, and some of this semi-circular arch survives. North gable has an opening at each level filled with rubble where C19 bread ovens were attached. (RCHM, 3, p 216, no 2).
