Throstle Nest and The Rookery

(Formerly listed as Throstle Nest and Throstle Nest Cottage)

House, later C18 with C19 addition. Dressed stone to the house, roughcast to the cottage all under stone slate roofs. Three storeys. The house front is of three symmetrical bays. Doorcase has an eared architrave and pediment, but is flanked by square C19 bays. Above, the outer windows have plain stone surrounds, the central ones an added fillet. Those to the first floor are sashed without glazing bars, those to the second floor are casements. Stone mullion windows to rear and one round-headed with intersecting glazing bars. This feature is repeated on the gable end of the cottage, which may be the adapted service wing. Irregular fenestration mainly of three-light recessed square mullion windows with hoodmoulds, sashed in the central light only. Three ridge stacks. interior not inspected.
