3 adjoining houses. No. 42 C16 altered in C19: Nos. 44 and 46 C18. No. 42 timber framed brick nogged and roughcast: Nos. 44 and 46 of painted brick. Steep old red tile roofs. No. 42 is a small, 2-cells, 2-storeys and attic house facing N with irregular front. 2 windows to each floor with door between but RH half of front taken by a large external chimney with offsets. Small lean-to at W end. 2-light flush casement windows. There is a chamfered and stopped wooden lintel to this chimney, chamfered axial beam to floor. Quadrant tension brace to central partition (an open truss), long curved braces and jowled posts. Squint-butted scarf joints in wallplates. Clasped-purlin roof and curved wind braces. Old rear window with chamfered mullions. Nos. 42 and 44 form a higher pair adjoining on E. 2-storeys with tiled roof and casement windows. They bear Boxmoor rights of grazing plaques nos. 585 and 586. Nos. 44 and 46 included for group value. (Roberts(1975)No.11).
