GV II
Public house. C18 with later, mostly early C19, alterations. English-bond brick rendered and painted to the front, curved to the ground-floor corner, crested pantile roof, tall brick lateral stack to the left return and a brick stack with ornamental brick cornice close to front gable end. L-plan with gable facing to rear wing. 3 storeys; 2-window range with gable facing to left which has late C19 wavy-edged bargeboard with wooden finial and pendant. First floor has tripartite plate-glass sash to left and early C19 6/6-pane sash to right. Ground floor has mid C20 window to left, central doorway with C20 door and early C19 tripartite sash with central 6/6-pane sash to right. The left return has a C19 three-light casement window at eaves level, C20 windows to the rear end, 2 to the lower floors with concrete lintels. INTERIOR: the attic has stack of former open fire against the rear wall. (Squibbs PJ: Squibbs' History of Bridgwater: Chichester: 1988-: PL 112).
