Offices, now two shops. c1860-70. Limestone ashlar. 4 storeys; symmetrical 6-window range. Rectangular plan with large 3-storey rear wing to the right. Italianate High Renaissance style. A balustraded parapet with 4 piers stands above a modillion and dentilled cornice returned to the right with a foliate frieze below; rusticated quoins; moulded architraves to the 2/2-pane sash windows which diminish in size on each floor; a string course with a narrow foliate frieze at third-floor cill level; cornices, moulded architraves and consoles to window cills which project from a string course to the second floor; segmental pediments over first-floor windows which have a cornice at cill level, probably to former fascia. INTERIOR not inspected. Similar design to other commercial premises at Nos 10 & 11 (qv). (Buildings of England: Pevsner N: South and West Somerset: London: 1958-: 98; Squibbs PJ: Squibbs' History of Bridgwater: Chichester: 1988-: PL 67).
