GV II

Entrance lodge to Kelvedon Hall (qv). 1938. Designed by Lord Gerald Wellesley and Trenwith Wells. Stuccoed brick. Entrance comprises a triumphal arch with cornice and partly balustraded parapet surmounted by a central urn. Intrados coffered with rosettes. 2 attached flanking lodges, single storey, stuccoed with parapets, partly balustraded. Central projecting sections each with a niche containing an urn. Inner faces of lodges flanking passage way articulated with 5 sash windows, glazing bars, four 3x4 panes and one 2x4 panes and lodge door porches simulating guard rooms. Doors with lower section flush panelled and upper section glazed - central light surrounded by side lights. Iron gates with spear motif and central wreath and heraldic designs. Kelvedon Hall, the Lodge, the stable block (qv), the orangery and garden wall (qv) form a group.
