Formerly known as: Octagon Lodge THE AVENUE.
Lodge cottage. Early C19, altered in C20. Plastered brick with
slate roof. Octagonal plan with entrance to E and central
stack. C20 small lean-to extension to SW, enclosing rear door.
One storey and attics. 5 sides each have one C20 casement with
diamond leading and a plain fanlight, in an original aperture
with semicircular arched head. On the W side (towards The
Avenue) a similar original aperture has been widened for C20
French windows, retaining the arched head and fanlight. C20
glazed gabled porch, with C20 half-glazed door at front and
another inside, with a plain fanlight in an original arched
aperture, and large plain side-lights. Each original aperture
is recessed in a semicircular arch. Fully hipped roof with two
C20 skylights. Octagonal shaft with moulded base and cap, all
plastered. Reported to be fully modernized internally.
