Garden wall. C18. Red brick, mainly with stone coping. Enclosing rectangular area but S end wall set at angle, NW-SE. Garden 40m wide by about 75m. Long N, S, and E walls have angled `crinkle-crankle' bays 4.3m wide, bay walls 2.5m long. All walls have a straight section where they meet at the corners. N and S walls of 7 bays, E wall 14 bays. N, W and E walls are in English bond, W wall straight with 2 principal entrances with gate piers, also a simple entrance with wooden doorway frame at N end. At 15m from N end a straight joint has English bond to N but Flemish bond with some burnt headers to S continuing to a gate pier. Also N section of W wall has gabled brick coping. Later work comprises a cement block shed between the W gateways and in the E wall a doorway to changing rooms built agaist outer face. Second doorway to the N has a rebuilt arched head. With the enclosed garden a central ridge beneath the grass runs N-S and a C20 swimming pool is set in the NE angle. The garden wall east, wall and railings west (qv) and Middleton Hall (qv) form a group.
