GV II
House, now divided into 3 cottages. Early C18.Roughcast with a pantile roof; stacks with massive hand-made brick shafts. Plan: U-plan: single depth range, 4 rooms wide, with a cart entrance at the right end of No 58. Exterior: 2 storeys with original coved eaves. 1:2:2 window front, No 57 to the left. No 57 has steps up to a C19 4-panel door to the right, one first floor 16-pane C18 sash and a possibly slightly later similar sash to ground floor left. No 58 has the cart entrance to the right with C20 plank doors and a door to the house alongside with an overlight and a C20 door. One ground floor and 2 first floor late C19 2-pane horned sashes with margin panes. No 59 has a C20 borded door in the centre with 2 ground and 2 first floor late C19 horned sashes with margin panes. Rear wings to the 2 right hand houses create a courtyard behind the main range. This is paved with pitched stone with granite slabs to accommodate the wheels of carts that came to repaired at the wheelwrights workshop at the rear. Interior: No 57. This has a right end fireplace to the front room, small service room to the rear. Boxed stair adjacent to the left end wall. Nos 58 has a crossbeam and is said to preserve a timber lintel to the ground floor fireplace. No 58 not inspected but may contain the original stair and other features of interest.
