Gate-keeper's cottage. 1848-50. For North Staffordshire Railway. Brick with ashlar dressings; tile roof with fishscale bands. L-plan. Tudor style. Single storey; 2-bay range. Coped gables. Windows have hollow-chamfered reveals and casements with ogee-moulded mullions. Entrance has gabled porch with Tudor-arched head and C20 door; inner Tudor-headed entrance with moulded arch and plank door; 2-light window to left of entrance; projecting left end stack. Right return to railway has left end canted bay window under hipped roof, two 3-light windows and 2-light window; 2 cross-axial stacks with diagonal shafts, that to left with moulded cap; similar later stack to right of bay. Left return has later outshut under catslide roof.
