Public house including former premises of Staffs Potteries
Water Board. Mid C19, brick with stuccoed dressings, slate
roof. Eastern section of two storeys and five bays with central
doorway in pedimented case with Corinthian fluted shafts.
Small-paned window beyond replace original mullioned and
transomed lights which survive elsewhere. Lower windows have
pedimented heads, upper windows have round-arched heads with
slight entablature over, and foliate spandrels. Oversailing
eaves carried on consoles. To the right, (No.1 Bethesda St.),
an adjoining building now in same occupation, is in Italianate
style with ornamental brick and tile work to triple
round-arched windows on each floor. Tiled eaves band. Upper
storey recessed between pilasters. Four bays to Bethesda Street
with stone architrave to doorway to right.
