TQ3183NE ST PETER'S STREET 635-1/59/824 (North East side) Nos.23-47 (Odd) and attached railings
GV II
Terraced houses. 1848-52. Developed by James and Thomas Ward. Yellow brick set in Flemish bond, stucco, roof obscured by parapet. The houses form a symmetrical group of thirteen houses by virtue of the fifth and ninth houses (nos 31 and 39) being slightly recessed. Three storeys over basement, two windows each. Basement and ground floor stuccoed, the ground floor decorated with banded rustication. Steps up to flat-arched porch, the recessed entrance with moulded stucco architrave; doors with round-arched panelling to all except nos 25, 29, 39 and 45. Ground-floor window segmental-arched, all upper-floor windows flat-arched with stucco architraves and cornice to first floor; window-guards to first-floor windows, stucco band to parapet with moulded cornice. Area railings of unusually ornate design with castellated standards and palmette finials. (Historians' file, English Heritage London Division).
