Workshop or warehouse. 1872-5. For Thomas Mabe, colour merchant. White brick, with dressings of yellow brick and terracotta; roof obscured by parapet. Four storeys, four-window range to Old Street. The Old Street elevation has four bays flanked by brick piers rising to a moulded segmental-pointed arch with keystone above the fourth floor; the openings between are of identical design throughout the front, and are divided into two by slim metal columns with foliage capitals, each window having a segmental-pointed arch. On the ground floor the first and third bays from the left incorporate doors and the rest have original metal shutters fitted between window arch and frame. The panel above the ground floor windows has terracotta decoration in a honeycomb pattern set under a segmental-pointed arch of gauged yellow brick; above the first-floor windows is lozenge-patterned floral decoration in terracotta and above the second floor a band of guilloche ornament in terracotta; machicolated parapet. The elevation to Sycamore Street is of three bays with piers of white brick framing segmental-arched recessed panels of yellow brick in which are set segmental-arched windows.
