GV II
Row of 12 terraced houses. c.1825-1828. Multi-coloured stock bricks laid in Flemish bond with simple stucco dressings; roofs obscured by parapet, brick party-wall stacks. Three storeys; 2 windows each. Side-hall entrance plan with staircase; no. 166 with side entrance to Richmond Avenue facade. Low steps rise to entrance in left bay: doorway with 1/4 fluted column jambs carrying corniced-head, panelled doors and plain fanlights (nos. 158 & 160 curved and radial glazing bars). Ground-floor gauged brick round arches to 1/1 sashes (no. 162 with 6/6 curved glazing bars in Gothic style & 166 6/6 curved & radial sashes). Upper floors with gauged brick flat arches to 2/2 (nos. 144-160 & 162) and 6/6 (nos. 164 & 166) sashes. 1st floor with stucco sill band to full-length sashes set in arched recesses linked by stucco impost bands; individual (to nos. 144 & 148-160) and coupled (to nos. 162-166) cast iron balconies with spiderweb pattern to railings; balconies missing from 146. Plain brick parapet with stone coping. Attached iron area railings.
