War Memorial approximately 5 metres
north of Christ Church
GV II
War memorial. c1920. Sandstone. An octagonal plinth is built
against a sloping bank and inscribed on the west side: '1914 -
1919 IN LASTING MEMORY OF GLORIOUS DEEDS AND NOBLE ENDURANCE'.
Above are 2 octagonal steps supporting a base of square plan
with crocketed diagonal buttresses. On the west side it is
carved with a crucifix and inscribed: 'For all Mankind'. On
the east side it is carved with a child and 2 standing figures
and inscribed: 'Lent to the Lord'. On the south side it is
inscribed: 'I am the resurection and the life', and on the
north side: 'AMDG in honour of the Parishioners of Christ
Church who gave their lives for King and Country in the Worlds
War 1914- 1919'. A tapering octagonal shaft with foliated
capital supports a cross fleury.
