Details
HARLAXTON SK8932 GRANTHAM ROAD 1315-0/15/169 (East side (off)) Gazebo 80 metres south of Harlaxton Manor GV II*
Gazebo. c1838-1844. Probably by William Burn for Gregory Gregory. Ashlar with slate roof. Renaissance Revival style. Plain first floor band, moulded eaves. 2 storeys; hexagonal plan. The 3 faces towards the house have cross casements with projecting strapwork surrounds on brackets, and leaded glazing. Below, round arched doorways with heavily rusticated surrounds and enlarged keystones, slatted double doors and fanlights with cast-iron grilles. Outside, 3 sets of linked steps. At the rear, a flight of steps to the first floor, splayed at the foot, leading to a doorway with stone surround and mullioned overlight. This building appears within Harlaxton Manor Gardens which are on the Gardens Register at grade II*. (The Buildings of England: Pevsner N, Harris J & Antram N: Lincolnshire: London: 1964-1989: 367).
