Two cottages. 1770s, No.101 an early C19 addition; c1900 rear outshut. Cob, No.101 of painted brick; tile roof with brick cross-axial stack and projecting end stack. 2 storeys; 2-unit plan with 2-window range to right. Rafter ends visible. Entrance to right has plank door. Window to ground floor has 2-light small-paned glazing; 1st floor has window with 2-light small-paned casement and iron opening casement to right of small window with similar casement. Left return has entrance and 2-light window. No.101 has top modillioned brick cornice; segmental-headed entrance with plank door. Segmental-headed window to ground floor has 2-light small-paned casement; small and large 1st-floor windows single-light and 2-light small-paned casements with iron opening casements. Right return has lean-to outshut with fishscale tiles, entrance with plank door to front and small lights to return. Rear has lateral stack to right and lean-to outshut with plank doors. INTERIOR: No.99 has walls approx. 17in thick; chamfered beam and exposed joists; wide-boarded door; cupboard to right of fireplace has 2 fielded panels with shaped heads; winding stair. 1st floor has exposed purlins; convex-chamfered wall heads. Outshut has patch of exposed cob walling. A good example of a cob cottage, the only one recorded in Stratford, with well-preserved internal arrangements.
