Shops with storage and residential over. Late C17/early C18
with later alterations. Coursed limestone rubble;
timber-framed walls to each side of through passage. Welsh
slate roof; rebuilt brick left- and right-end stacks. Through
passage plan. 3 storeys and cellar; 4-window range. First
floor has two 2-light timber mullion-and-transom windows,
probably C19, under exposed timber lintels to left (No.9); two
similar C20 two-light timber casements to right (No.11). Four
2-light timber casements under exposed timber lintels to
second floor. Ground floor has C19 timber shop front surround
with reeded pilasters, frieze and moulded cornice with C20
glazing and door to left (No.9); late C19 timber shop front to
right (No.11) has undergone late C20 alteration but retains
pilaster strips, frieze and moulded cornice and 4-light
glazing now recessed. Opening to through passage to centre has
chamfered stone surround; C20 iron gate. Rudimentary quoins to
left and right; moulded string over first floor. Sloping cills
to windows in stone or cement suggest windows are in C17
positions; quoins stop half-way up second floor left
suggesting springing of possible gable. INTERIOR inspection of
No.11 only; considerable C20 alterations. C20 staircase; no
fireplaces; beams re-profiled. C19 king post double-pile roof
structure.
