GV II

Pair of attached houses. Late C17-early C18. Stucco with limestone dressings, central stack and pantile half-hipped roof. Double-depth plan. Early Georgian style. Each of 4 storeys and basement; 2-window range. A symmetrical pair has a deep moulded parapet coping, angled down at the corners. Outer doorways, that to No.50 displaced to the left by the doorway to No.48, with curved brackets and moulded canopies, and 6-panel doors. 6/6-pane sashes in exposed frames, 4/4-panes in the fourth floor. INTERIOR: entrance hall with a panelled screen to the front room, a central lateral dogleg stair from the rear room with column-on-vase balusters and a moulded rail; 2- and 4-panel doors. SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: attached front area wrought-iron railings and gates. Possibly a late C17 house which may have had paired gables.
